Keeping Your Skincare Essentials Fresh

Green Chemistry prides itself on sourcing the best ingredients. We craft our formulations to ensure optimal results for your skin and guarantee that we won't ever use artificial dyes, chemical fragrances, or any preservative. Does that mean our product's shelf life won't last as long as you'd like?

Not necessarily.

True, chemical preservatives may increase a product's shelf life, but keeping the following in mind will ultimately help ensure that natural and organic formulas stay fresh for longer.

1. Read the labels

When it comes to green beauty products, a general rule that you have to follow is: don't hoard. You either have to use it or be vigilant about tossing it if you don't run through it within a reasonable amount of time.

How do you know when it needs to go? Read the labels. If it comes from a reputable brand, they will label their products correctly and let you know their product's shelf life.

2. Store them properly

Store your skincare essentials in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep them away from direct sunlight and avoid placing them in places where they will be exposed to heat, humidity, and excess moisture.

3. Use clean hands

Wash your hands thoroughly before you handle your products. This ensures your skin health and helps maintain the integrity of your skincare products. Avoid sharing your products with anyone else, especially if it doesn't come in a closed dispenser.

4. Be careful not to mix water into the products

Make sure that you don't accidentally introduce water or moisture into your products, as mold may develop over time.

5. Shop thoughtfully

Buying from a reputable brand ensures that you're getting well-packaged products that use only high-quality ingredients. They'll probably also have clear guidelines on packaging and storing your products to maximize their shelf life. Case in point: to help maintain the integrity of our products, Green Chemistry packages only use tinted, double-walled glass that minimizes exposure to sunlight and protects it from heat and humidity.
