Our Favorite Transition-Weather Skincare Hacks

June Javelosa

It's fair to say that everyone looks forward to warmer weather.

It's great for our mood, we look forward to the fashion, but our skin can take a beating as we shift from colder temperatures to warmer months.

As seasons change, so does our skincare routine. This is where our favorite transition-weather skincare hacks come in. It doesn't have to be major changes, but it helps to make a few tweaks here and there to ensure your skin is still getting the proper nourishment and protection it needs.

1. Switch to a lighter cleanser

Cold weather tends to strip our skin of its natural moisture during winter. As the climate gets warmer, though, higher temperatures give your skin can produce more of its natural oils. We use products meant to lock moisture in to give our dry skin a big boost. If you haven't yet, put away the thick and heavy hydrating cleansers and switch to a lighter one.

Try Daily Detox— a unique deep cleansing mask from refreshing green papaya fused with the finest mineral-rich herbs, flowers, and activated charcoal.

2. Keep exfoliating—but choose a gentler one

Going into Spring, it's important to keep exfoliating, especially since the cold winter weather may have left your skin dry, dull, and rough.

You must use a gentle exfoliant that doesn't use abrasive particles to slough away dead skin. Remember that over-exfoliation can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so be careful not to overdo it.

You can also use Daily Detox as an exfoliant. After cleansing, scrub off gently with your hands in a circular motion and let the natural jojoba beads work to exfoliate your skin naturally. Remove with a soft clean cloth or konjac sponge.

3. Choose a lighter serum

Heavy and concentrated serums may be your go-to for winter because they can penetrate deeply into the skin and lock in much-needed moisture. As the temperature rises, you can switch your thick serums for a lighter containing all the concentrated nutrients for your skin, but it is more lightweight and works well with your screen. Try our Phyto Flora—the ideal serum for dry, sensitive skin that helps rebalance your skin.

4. Don’t skip the moisturizer

As the weather warms, you might be tempted to skip moisturizing because it feels too heavy on your skin. Remember that as the weather transitions, you’re also exposed to more sweat and sun, which can dehydrate your skin.

Heavier formulations can make your skin too oily and cause more breakouts. However, the right moisturizer can help your skin rapidly absorb necessary nutrients and address skin issues like aging, acne marks, and sun exposure. Try our lightweight night cream, Night Light.

5. Throw out old makeup and skincare products

Spring cleaning is a time-old tradition that should also be applied to your skincare routine as we head into Spring. Check old products, review expiration dates, and throw out any product you haven't used or stored correctly. Remember, bacteria also build up on your makeup and skincare products, especially when exposed to open air for a long time.

If you notice products that have changed in consistency, smell, or texture, it’s probably best to throw them out.

One final thing—

The right products can help minimize the need to switch during these fickle transition seasons. Pay attention to your skincare products' ingredients, sourcing, and how they are formulated. Suppose they're backed by science and experts. In that case, they will effectively be able to deliver the best results for your skin.
